Abstract

In industrial pig breeding, during the standard production cycle, animals are exposed to numerous stress effects (early weaning, regrouping, changes in housing and feeding conditions, veterinary measures, etc.) throughout the entire period of use.

Stress, being a reaction of an adaptive nature, increases energy expenditure in the body and causes tension in all physiological processes in order to maintain homeostasis. Currently, it is known that the effect of stressors of various nature on erythrocytes causes various reactions in them, playing an important role in the mechanisms of the development of the adaptation process.

In order to further improve the technological conditions of breeding and keeping pigs, to increase the level of their adaptive capabilities, we decided to trace the relationship between the course of the stress reaction and the morphofunctional parameters of erythrocytes, since, in our opinion, it is important to identify risk factors caused by the constant impact of technological factors.

The aim of the work was to assess the informative significance of morphofunctional indicators of erythrocytes in breeding sows of the Poltava meat breed under the influence of technological factors depending on the stage of the stress reaction development.
