Abstract

The analysis of veterinary reporting shows that some asymptomatic or chronic infectious diseases of farm animals in the regions of the Russian Federation are quite widespread. However, when processing livestock at slaughterhouses in these regions, such diseases are not detected and are not recorded in veterinary and sanitary examination reports (form 5-vet). Such diseases include leptospirosis, listeriosis, actinobacillosis, adenomatosis, visna-maedi, visceral mycoses, etc. Many of these diseases are zooanthroponotic, and their pathogens are dangerous not only for animals, but also for humans. Therefore, the attitude to such diseases should take into account their epizootic and epidemic danger. Slaughter products from animals with these diseases should not be released without restriction or without prior disinfection. They should be subjected to heat treatment and used with certain restrictions. Most of the above diseases are chronic with mild clinical and pathological signs, which makes their diagnosis difficult in slaughterhouses. Veterinary specialists during the examination of slaughter products of chronically ill animals often do not take into account pathognomonic signs and the duration of bacterial carriage, carry out debridement of affected tissues without registering diseases, and release carcasses without restriction, which is insufficiently justified from a veterinary and sanitary point of view. The article provides recommendations to veterinary specialists of all slaughterhouses to diagnose zooanthroponotic diseases in a timely manner, taking into account pathognomonic signs, and prohibit the release of slaughter products without restriction in an untreated form and send them for processing, providing for thermal effects of at least 75 °C. The sale of meat in markets and other trading enterprises from animals with suspected diseases such as leptospirosis, listeriosis, actinobacillosis, adenomatosis, pseudotuberculosis, aspergillosis and visna-maedi should not be allowed and should be reflected in the veterinary examination report (form 5-vet).
