Abstract

The aim of this work was to analyze the composition of the microbial community of the gastrointestinal tract of juvenile and adult fish of the species Clarias gariepinus using sequencing technology on Illumina MiSeq. The results of the analysis showed that in the intestines of omnivorous catfish, the predominant types are Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria and Fusobacteria. The proportion of unidentified sequences was 9.1±3.53 % in the first group and 67.7±8.69% in the second group. The proportion of the Bacteroidetes type in both groups was represented in a fairly small amount (less than 2 %). Four minor phyla were present in both small and large catfish (Cyanobacteria, Verrucomicrobia, Spirochaetes, and Thermi). Representatives of seven more bacterial phyla were found in single individuals (Planctomycetes, Chlorobi, Synergistetes and Gemmatimonadetes - in representatives of the first group; Thermotogae, Nitrospirae and Tenericutes - only in the second).
