The Astrakhan region is a region with extreme climatic conditions. Its difference is sharp continentality, as well as insufficient content of iodine, in some areas selenium, cobalt, copper, zinc. At the same time, boron and calcium in the main components of terrestrial ecosystems are in excess. Against this background, many residents of the region and animals experience disruption of important body functions, certain pathological conditions occur, for example, hypothyroidism and hypomicroelementosis. A low level of iodine content in the environment is noted in the order of the Government of the Astrakhan Region No. 52-Pr. dated 06.03.2009 "On the prevention of iodine deficiency diseases in the Astrakhan region". In recent years, the region has seen an increase in the number of thyroid diseases in humans and animals, and they are much more severe.
The state of the thyroid gland in young cattle under conditions of iodine, selenium, cobalt, zinc deficiency in the Astrakhan region was studied. A histological analysis was carried out and a description of the state of gland hypofunction was given. We present the results of biochemical studies of blood serum of Holstein-Friesian cows of different age groups, in particular, thyroid hormones. A method for correcting hypothyroidism and hypomicroelementosis of the above elements has been developed and proposed. Our research suggests that in the feed and water of the Astrakhan region there is a low content of iodine, selenium, cobalt, zinc. The obtained data are necessary to create a biogeochemical paradigm of iodine-seleno-zinc-cobalt deficiency in the territory of the Lower Volga, to develop methods and methods for the prevention and treatment of goiter and hypomicroelementosis in Holstein-Friesian breed of cows.
